Radial Shockwave Therapy in Fort Collins

Adams & Giddings Physical Therapy is now offering radial shockwave therapy at our Fort Collins clinic.

Radial shockwave therapy (RSWT) uses acoustic pressure waves delivered through the skin to targeted tissues. These waves stimulate healing, increase circulation, and help break down chronic scar tissue and calcifications in tendons and soft tissue.

Benefits of Shockwave Therapy

  • Tissue Regeneration: Stimulates fibroblasts and boosts collagen production, repairing damaged connective tissues like ligaments and tendons
  • Pain Relief: Overstimulates nerve endings to immediately reduce pain and triggers the release of endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers)
  • Improved Blood Flow: Promotes the formation of new blood vessels (neovascularization), bringing fresh nutrients and oxygen to stubborn, chronic injuries
  • Breaks Down Calcification: Helps dissolve calcium deposits in tendons (e.g., in the shoulder or heel) and breaks up restrictive scar tissue
  • Non-Invasive: Requires no surgery or steroid injections

Common Conditions Treated

  • Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
  • Tennis & golfer’s elbow (lateral or medial epicondylitis)
  • Shoulder tendinopathy / calcific tendonitis
  • Shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome)
  • Myofascial trigger points
  • Hip bursitis and gluteal tendinopathy
