IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a method in which Physical therapists use tools to improve soft tissue efficiency. Adhesions and scar tissue from surgery can inhibit range of motion and cause painful movement The instruments aide in the healing process by causing microtrauma to superficial tissues which allows for increased blood flow and repair to the affected area. It is also known that this method can assist in the remodeling of the collagen matrix. IASTM can improve range of motion, pain, and strength in the treated area.
